As we live in a digital world, almost everything has been affected by digitalization. While designers had to carry their physical portfolios when they went for an interview before, things are not the same anymore. This trend is past now. You can simply upload your work in Twitter, Facebook or ArtStation. People who use smartphones can simply check out the uploaded content. However, is uploading your work all that you can do to design portfolio?

The answer is definitely a NO. So, what should you do? We have talked to experienced designers who have been offering web design services for DigitalPolo.com for years. Here are a few tips that professionals designers have shared.

Choose the strongest pieces of work: When you want to show your design portfolio to the next interviewer, you should include only the strongest pieces of work that you have done. Remember that you have to impress the interviewer during the interview. Hence, you should spend some time in choosing the works that have been successful. The work-pieces that you want to show should be so nice that the interviewer feels compelled to click on it.

Include some of the unique works: While some of your artwork may be outstanding, the same may not be unique. However, you must have created some designs that are unique. Those designs are not available online or are not an updated WordPress theme. You may have experimented with colors and created something that is totally out of the box. Or you may have created a whole new font while experimenting with fonts. No matter what it is, make sure to include those in your design portfolio.

Bring a variety in the portfolio: If you have been working for a few years in the graphic designing industry, you must have created different types of designs. Even if you are just starting your career as a professional designer, you may have your own design work. Include different types of designs in your portfolio instead of including similar designs again and again.

Make sure that your portfolio does not look boring. Besides, the designs should have something in common. The person looking at your portfolio should not feel that you have included works of other designers. The designs should look like those are made by the same person.

Create a clutter-free portfolio: I have mentioned before that you should include different types of designs and unique pieces of art. However, do not overdo when you are following these instructions. To be specific, do not include too many images in your portfolio. Designers who offer marketing graphic design suggest that you should go through the selection process at least twice or thrice. Choose the ones that you want to include in your portfolio at first. Then get rid of similar designs. Lastly, got through the images and check whether you have included images that look good but are not especially outstanding or unique. Remove those and you are good to go.

Now that you know how you can create a portfolio to create the maximum impact, start creating a fresh portfolio. Keep updating the images from time to time. Remove old works and include new works to make sure that the portfolio appears to be trendy.
